Show Notes:

Writing a Great Ad

Writing a great ad is all about remembering the 4 principles of advertising – Attention, Interest, Desire and Action (AIDA). You’ve got to grab people’s attention, create interest, harness their desire and call them to action. We talk about several examples of companies that have done this successfully.

Enjoy the show!

The reason why “beer ads” have no Call To Action (CTA) or images of people going to the bottle-shop and buying it is that they are not allowed to be seen as “encouraging drinking”. One of those funny rules in Australia.

I heard something vagely recently (over a beer with mates) that the big budget Tooheys New commercial (where they catapult stuff from roof-tops) had the ending changed as it showed people dancing and been happy. If you see the ad now it’s a lot more somber (sober).
